Pray for their families

Watching a loved one destroy their lives through addiction is heart-wrenching. Many times an addict will go into isolation – abandoning those who love and care for them. They will simply “disappear” and spiral deeper and deeper into their addiction as they lose touch with their families.
I have heard many a mother say, “I didn’t know if he was alive or dead.”
Pray, not just for the addict, but for families who agonize over a family member in the grip of addiction. It’s a hard and difficult road they walk. If you know someone who is grieving over the pain of a loved one’s addiction, I encourage you to reach out to them, offer them grace, let them tell their story, and then hold them up in prayer.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
Rick
