My Life was a Wreck
One of the young women in our addiction recovery program told me she had grown up in a good home but somehow got involved with drugs that led to addiction and a lifestyle that was out of control. She recently told me about her first day at the Center for Women and Children.
When the day came and she found she had no other place to go, and she walked in the door of the Center. She checked in with our case manager, and was assigned a place to sleep and put her things. She then walked down to the end of the hallway on the second floor and looked out the window just in time to see a bulldozer leveling a house right next door. The reality of where she was in life came crashing down on her. “That’s my life, right there in front of me. Just like that house, I have made a wreck of my life. I need to start over and completely rebuild.”
She began to seek a deeper relationship with Christ. She picked up her Bible and has read it every day since she arrived at the Center. She completes her homework, her chores, and all other responsibilities related to the regimented program. She yearns to be taught and mentored in her new lifestyle. She is changing her life – brick by brick. I’ll write more about her journey later.
