Back from Vacation
I’ve been out of the office for a week, on vacation spending a few days with family and friends. It was great to relax in the morning reading a good book by Joseph Stowell, “Far From Home, the Soul’s Search for Intimacy with God” then head to the lake for some time appreciating God’s creation.
Being raised in the country, it’s very therapeutic for me to get away from the city for a while to enjoy time on the water. There’s just something about the sound of the water rushing against the bow of the boat that is incredibly relaxing. Somehow, it reminds me of the way God has poured out His blessing on me and my family. I feel as though I am living out the promise that God actually gave to Israel in Isaiah 44 where He says, “For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” I am truly a blessed man.
After a week away, I am ready to be back in the city and back to our work here at Wheeler. Refreshed, encouraged, and ready to face the challenges of a new day thanks to a little time on the water!
