Thank God for mothers who pray

“Thank God for mothers who pray!” Those were the first words out of Bill’s mouth when he came to testify about how God was at work in his life. He confesses to misleading and lying to his family while in his addiction. Now, with his mom at his side, he thanks her for never giving up on him. She has unceasingly kept him covered with prayer and now she is able to put her arms around a son who has been clean for more than a year.

Bill has experienced the answers to many prayers over the past year or so. He said while in addiction, his life was marked by nothing but selfishness, but then he made a major turn. The first few verses of Psalm 40 describe Bill’s journey.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”

Prayer is a powerful tool. If you are a mom with a wayward child, I encourage you to endure through prayer. God hears your cry.
